A packed crowd gathered this month to celebrate 25 years of Bodies in Motion Dance School, a beloved local institution that has grown from humble beginnings into the heart of dance in Douglas Shire.

The day included a BBQ and pool party during the day, and then a gala night in the evening where everyone let their hair down.

The school's journey began in 1999 when it first opened its doors under the name Dance Port - two years later it officially became Bodies in Motion Dance School.

Since then, BIM has flourished into a second home for thousands of students and families.

In that time, more than 10,000 costumes have been sewn, glittered, and glued and there have been 24 end-of-year concerts (plus a virtual one in 2020) and more than 75 eisteddfod entries.

While the school has grown in polish and professionalism — now performing at CPAC, a state-of-the-art centre — its heart has stayed the same.

As the night drew to a close, the people in room raised their glasses to 25 years of memories — and many more still to be made.
