The Grand Final of the Indoor Golf League was played on Friday night on the very difficult KoÓlau golf course. This course, that is now closed unfortunately, was once rated the hardest golf course in the United States and for good reason. Most of the fairways have areas across them at around the 230-250meter mark. These 30-70 meter areas are full of either very long rough or just thick vegetation and this makes it very difficult to judge driving distance. Add to that the extreme elevation of some holes and you have a challenge. The match was between Troy Cox & Matty Batista versus Tim Preen & Peter hay. 18 holes matchplay Stableford and the Tim/Peter combination got off to a great start with a birdie on the first to take an early lead. It was short lived as Troy/Matty birdied the 2nd after a mammoth drive from Troy that went over 300 meters! Both teams halved holes until the 7th when Troy & Matty took the lead with 3 points on the 2nd hardest hole. Another birdie on the par 3, 8th hole and they were 2 up at the turn. There was some back and forth over the next 5 holes, but the birdie for 4 points on the 16th hole was enough to give Troy & Matty the victory 4 & 2. The game was played in great spirits and by all players with some great sledging on both sides, as there always is. Congratulations to Troy and Matty on their hard fought victory. The Indoor League is now over for this year, but Daddyshack is running a fortnightly individual competition now as well as the Cash Jackpot Hole In One Competition. The jackpot is up to $350 and it only takes $5 to have 3 shots at the Cash. If you would like to play in any of our competitions just call 0487 896 725 for all information and bookings. | Photo: (left to right) Peter Hay, Troy Cox, Matty Batista, Tim Preen. | |
