We had thirteen shooters today for our Double 500 match. Very hot again but less humidity and bright blue skies. We welcomed Charlie from Cairns Club. F Std: First up was Brendan Delaney starting with 56.3 then Bill Kromwyk shot 60.3 up next was Cameron Leyshon with 58.2 followed by John Brentson on 56.3 and Micheal Scomozzon scored 50.0 then Charlie scored 58.2. Sporter Hunter: Nate Muirhead opened with 48.1 then Tom Baetscher shot 50.7 followed by Dion Muirhead with 49.5 then Andy Vance scored 50.3. Target Rifle: Frank Chester scored 49.2 and Rick Mischlewski hit a 47.1. In the Second Round: F Std: Delaney hit a 59.0, Kromwyk scored 66.6 then Leyshon shot 65.3 followed by Brentson also with 59.1 then Charlie hit a 63.5. Sporter Hunter: Baetscher scored 55.7 followed by Sjaak Vanlaar on 52.1 then D Muirhead hit a 48.1 and Vance shot 54.5. Matt & Joe have taken out the Grand Final of the Wet Season Indoor League with a convincing 6 & 5 win over Dave and Rhys Mann. Team Purple, as they have been nicknamed, played some spectacular golf with a few 300 meter drives and 5 birdies on the front nine at the difficult Pebble Beach golf course. Birdies at 11, 12 & 13 secured the win. Although Dave & Rhys played very well through the season, they unfortunately didn't bring their best in the Grand Final, but the game was played in friendly spirits, and all had a great night. Congratulations to Matt & Joe for a very well played season and thanks to all teams who participated. The Indoor League will be re-starting again very soon, and we are looking for more 2 person Ambrose teams to join in the fun. 21.3.26 We had seven shooters today for our Double 600 match. challenging conditions again today - hot, sunny, humid and very soggy after continued rain. F Std: First up was Brendan Delaney starting with 53.1 then Bill Kromwyk (table) shot 55.1 followed by John Brentson on 53.3. Sporter Hunter: Luke Coleman scored 49.4 then Tom Baetscher shot 50.6. Target Rifle: Rick Mischlewski hit a 48.3 and Frank Chester scored 46.2. In the Second Round: F Std: Delaney hit a 59.1, Kromwyk (table) scored 63.3 then Brentson shot 58.1. Sporter Hunter: Coleman scored 52.2 followed by Baetscher on 55.7. Target Rifle: Mischlewski scored 51.2 and Chester closed out the meet with 53.7. Semifinals week and we have our 2 teams through to the Grand Final of the Wet Season Indoor League. Matt & Joe will play against Dave & Rhys on Pebble Beach over 18 holes of Matchplay Ambrose in the final game of this league. Matt & Joe outplayed Doug & Jamie in the first semifinal by getting 3 points on the first 5 holes, followed by a 4 pointer on the par 5, 15th hole on Augusta. A par on the 16th hole was enough to get them a 3&2 victory. In the second semi Dave & Rhys continued their great play against the early ladder leaders Tim & Peter. This match was extremely tight, and both teams hit it to a few feet on the 16th hole for birdies. It was the early holes that got them the win as both teams scored the same down the closing stretch. Dave & Rhys won 2&1. |
A huge thanks to all the teams that competed in the league this year. The final game will be played on Friday, 27th March at 6pm. There will be food and drinks provided for all who have played league this year as well as a nearest the pin contest. We would love to see you all here. A final 9th round was needed to separate the 4 teams to go into the semifinals in the Wet Season Indoor League after 4th and 5th tied. They still tied after the extra round, but unfortunately 1 team is going away on a golf trip so cannot compete going forward. Special thanks to John & Peter for their gesture of letting the other team through. You are both gentlemen. That now leaves the 4 teams for the semifinals and they are: 1. Joe/Matt (237pts) Vs Doug/Jamie (223pts) 2. Dave/Rhys (227pts) Vs Tim/Peter (225pts) The semifinals will be around the back nine holes at Augusta so all teams will have to be at their most accurate to advance. Teams will play against each other in an Ambrose Matchplay Stableford format. All the best of luck to all teams. | Although there is no more time left to join this league, we will be doing another very soon so if you are interested in playing, grab a partner and let us know you want to play. There will also be a jackpotting hole in one contest where players will have the opportunity to have 3 shots at a very short par 3 to win the jackpot.
