TWO million-dollar dream homes in Port Douglas have been impacted by the reported insolvency of one of Australia’s leading property agencies.

Unique Estates, which has six offices across Australia, including Byron Bay and the Gold Coast, has had a reputation of selling high-end properties and renting out luxury estates.

The two Port Douglas properties which were being handled by Unique Estates are Villa Hemingway at 1 Island Point Road, which is on the market for $10.8 million; and La Casa Mirasol at 10 Solander Boulevard, which is listed for $3.5 million.

According to reports, an insolvency firm is managing the business while there is an investigation by the trading watchdog.

The two properties will be a major attraction to Port Douglas realtors who will want to list them, said a local property agent.

“There is no question they will be ‘hot property’ and all the realtors will try and take them,” the real estate agent said.

If a deposit has been made on either of the properties, the money will go into a Trust Fund and no one will be out of pocket.

Unique Estates was established by Nicolette van Wijngaarden in 2009.
