Juveniles to face court following string of alleged offences

Cairns Police have charged four youths with a total of nine property and traffic related offences following investigations by the Child Protection Investigation Unit, Cairns Property Crime Squad and Cairns Highway Patrol.
A 17-year-old boy was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Police alleged a car was stolen from Edmonton in November last year whilst another was stolen from a Woree home after entry was gained to the home by forcing a door lock on January 23.
Previously, five others were charged in relation to this matter, including a 19-year-old Manoora man, two 16-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy, all from Cairns, along with a 13-year-old Weipa boy.
A 16-year-old Bungalow boy was charged yesterday by Cairns Property Crime with one count each of enter premises and commit and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
It’s alleged he stole a moped and drove it. Cairns Highway Patrol also charged the boy with one count each of unlicenced driving and fail to wear a motorbike helmet.
A 14-year-old Mooroobool girl was charged yesterday with one count each of attempted robbery and enter premises and commit whilst a 12-year-old Edmonton girl was charged with one count of enter premises and commit.
A second 14-year-old Mooroobool girl was charged on Sunday (February 5) with one count each of stealing, and attempted robbery with violence.
It’s alleged the teens hired a ride share vehicle to drive them to an address in Mooroobool, however when the vehicle stopped in Long Street Mooroobool, the three girls stole cash from the woman driver in her 50’s, before all fled.
It’s further alleged the two 14-year-old girls attempted to steal a mobile phone from a 13-year-old girl on Cochrane Street Mooroobool on January 27.
All are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Children’s Court.
