For those in the Douglas Shire who are itching to get out and do something fun this weekend, look no further because this is your go-to guide for the best events our backyard has to offer.

Mossman

The Mossman Markets run every Saturday from 7am to 1pm under the stunning raintrees on Foxton Avenue. You can expect an of fresh local produce and an amazing array of handmade arts and crafts.

Kick off your weekend the right way at the Mossman Bowls Club who will supply the good vibes with their Taste the Tropics - Tropical Fridays. Don’t forget to stick around for the Jokers Jackpot and members draw at 7pm.

Port Douglas

Feel like treating yourself after a hard work week? Check out the Sheraton Grand Mirage’s Taste of the Tropics Grant High Tea today from 2pm. Taste the best produce the far north has to offer with a delightful selection of sandwiches and sweets serve with your choice of hot tea or cold bubbles. Tickets essential.

If you’re craving seafood then the Sheraton’s Seafood Marketplace Buffet is the place to be this Saturday.
Expect live music over the weekend at your favourite pubs, The Central Hotel and the Courthouse.

Port Douglas Yacht Club will host a friendly member’s pool comp from 2pm Sunday with great prizes including a meat tray raffle.

Cairns

Chinese New Year celebrations are in full swing this weekend with a Lantern Festival held at the Esplanade this Saturday from 5:30pm. The event will include Chinese cultural performances, food and a fireworks finale at 7:30pm.

It’s also Chinese New Year Race Day at the Cairns Jockey Club this Saturday, general admission is $10, gates open at 11am.

A night of hilarious adventure with two icons of Australian comedy is not to be missed this Friday at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre. Lano & Woodley take on the iconic story Moby Dick in a brilliant rendition that will have you bursting at the seams.
