Police and emergency services are en route to a white car that has flipped and remains on its roof after hitting a wall in wet conditions just moments ago in a section of road north of Ellis Beach.

Newsport understands at least one person was inside the car at the time it came to rest on its roof. It's believed the car was heading north towards Port Douglas when the accident happened.

It’s unclear if the Captain Cook Highway is closed because of the incident, however a number of people have stopped to render assistance.

Newsport has reached out to Douglas Police but are yet to received further news about the incident.
