Jaxon Sheppard will represent Queensland after claiming multiple medals at the recent Queensland School Sport 10-12 Track and Field State Championships.

He travels to Brisbane next Monday for a team camp before heading to Tasmania to compete in shot put, long Jump and the 200 metres. Jaxon's favourite event is shot put.

Meantime, Caitlyn Butland has been selected in the North Queensland team to compete at the upcoming Athletics Australia All-School National Championships in Perth. Caitlyn's favourite event is pole vault.

Caitlyn travels to Perth in the first week of December.

"As a club, we are pretty excited to have two of our promising junior athletes selected into these teams and given the opportunity to compete at a National level," a proud club representative told Newsport.

"They are both school based competitions so I also need to acknowledge both of their schools - Miallo State School (Jaxon) and Mossman State High School (Caitlyn)."

Both Douglas Shire athletes are completing their final training sessions in preparation for their upcoming events.
