A Far North man was due to face Cairns Magistrates Court today after being charged with four counts of alleged kidnapping and three counts of sexual assault.

Cairns Criminal Investigation Branch confirmed a 36-year-old Manunda man was arrested a short time ago in relation to alleged criminal activity that dates back to 2021.

Detectives allege the man “targeted four separate women on four separate occasions namely, October 10 2021, October 10 2022, July 28 2022 and August 27 2023”.

Police allege the man offered the women lifts before taking them to his home and sexually assaulting them.

A QPS spokesperson said investigators are still in the process of identifying if there are further victims.

If anyone believes they may have been a victim of a similar offence they are urged to contact police.
