One of Port’s best hotels has again been recognised for being, well -  brilliant, following its finalist nominations across a range of categories ahead of the upcoming independent HM industry awards next month.

The November 24 gala at Sydney’s The Star will shine a light on the brilliant people and properties that work across the accommodation and hotel industries.

Peninsula Boutique Hotel Port Douglas will vie for four awards on the night including best boutique and regional hotel as well as best resort and midscale hotel.

The nominations are just another feather in the cap for the popular hotel, with the finalist nominations coming just months after it hosted none other than Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for a number of days during his holiday earlier in the year.

“The Peninsula Hotel is delighted to be nominated in the prestigious HM Awards,” proud general manager Craig Watson told Newsport.

“To be nominated in four separate categories is a fantastic achievement and I am very proud of my whole team.

“It’s a real honour to represent Port Douglas on the national stage alongside The Sheraton. Fingers crossed we bring home the goods.”

Meantime, congratulations are also in order for two more Douglas Shire accommodation providers.

The Sheraton finished runners-up in the sustainable tourism excellence section at the recent Expedia group TNQ tourism industry excellence awards at the Cairns Convention Centre.

A shout out, too, to Silky Oaks Lodge who claimed the chair’s award for excellence.
