For quite some time the Sheraton Sunset Sessions had remained an event on my to-do list. The allure of its captivating blend of luxury and music had always piqued my curiosity, but the stars had never quite aligned for me to attend. Until recently, when I received a fortunate invitation from the Sheraton.

As someone who loves exploring the finer things in life, I often heard stories about the Sheraton Sunset Sessions from people who had been lucky enough to attend. I couldn't help but feel a bit jealous when I saw pictures or heard about the event's magical atmosphere.

After all, there's nothing quite like sharing a sunset and a few drinks with friends, is there? It's a cherished ritual in many corners of the world, but the tropics undoubtedly takes the crown.

Originating in the 1980s in Ibiza, Spain, this tradition has now found a new home in Port Douglas, where it unfolds around a pool shaded by coconut trees.

As I arrived at the Sheraton, the grandeur of the venue greeted me with open arms. The setting sun cast a warm, golden glow upon the turquoise lagoon pools and the DJ’s tunes provided a laid-back soundtrack to the scene.

Amidst a blend of resort guests and locals, all lounging on the lagoon’s white sand and occasionally taking a refreshing dip in the ocean's saltwater for a sunset session swim, it was impossible not to feel instantly relaxed.

All the while, we savoured delicious cocktails and Mediterranean bites, with a variety of stands offering cocktails, beer, wine, and delectable Mediterranean bites.
