The Port Douglas Reef Raiders will kick off their 2024 season this weekend when they play Cairns Northern Beaches Mudcrabs at the ‘Crabpot’ in Yorkey’s Knob.

It will be a new look Raiders team that will take to the field with around 12 players set to make their debut for the Port Douglas Rugby Club. It will also be Richard Johnston’s first game in charge as head coach.

Club President Travis Gooch told Newsport he’s excited with how the 2024 season is shaping up.

“The team has been training well and the numbers are building each week,” he said.

“After having the bye in round one the guys are keen to get out there this weekend to get some game time.”

The Raiders will hope to start the season well with kickoff 4pm tomorrow at the ‘Crabpot’ at Yorkey’s Knob in Cairns.
