The Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas is heating up the January long weekend with a lineup of “Hot & Spicy” events that celebrate good food and fun times with family and friends.

Kicking things off is a visit from MasterChef Fan Favourite Khanh Ong on Saturday the 27th of January for a kitchen takeover of the resort’s Lagoon House Restaurant.

Also a cookbook author and host of ‘Khanh Ong’s Wild Food’ on SBS, Khanh’s delicious feed-me menu will transport diners as they enjoy the restaurant’s poolside ambience, whisking them away to the vibrant marketplaces of East Asia.

But the fun won’t stop there. On Sunday January 28th, Khanh will set the scene as guest DJ for Sheraton Sunset Sessions. With DJ Andy by his side, guests will enjoy the vibes along with cool cocktails, tantalising Mediterranean bites, refreshing lagoon pool swims, and Instagram-worthy moments as the sun dips over swaying palms.

Also on the lineup for the weekend? A refined afternoon in the Daintree Lounge for Taste of the Tropics Grand High Tea on Friday the 26th and an insightful Rum Masterclass with FNQ Rum Co. on Saturday the 27th.

The exciting long weekend serves as a warm-up to the Sheraton’s now annual February Month of Love celebration, which this year will see the resort ablaze with an extravaganza of events that celebrate love. But this month-long affair doesn’t stop at red roses and heart-shaped chocolates on Valentine’s Day. The Month of Love celebrates all kinds of love: love of community, love of self, love of family and friends and even love of flavourful fare.

For those that can’t make it to Khanh Ong’s takeover dinner on the 27th of January, throughout February Khanh’s dishes will feature on the Lagoon House Restaurant menu for all to try. Additionally, the resort is embracing the summer heat and featuring a “Hot & Spicy” menu item at each of its dining outlets through the month: from spicy cocktails at Daintree Bar to a chili chocolate brownie at Palms Lobby Café.

The next stop on the love train is a ladies night to remember. Harrison’s annual Girls’ Night Out returns on Saturday the 10th of February for an evening of delicious food, live DJ music and of course, fabulous women.

In celebration of self and community love, on Thursday the 15th of February the Australian psychologist, mindfulness teacher and children’s book author Liv Downing will visit the resort for several community events. Her morning gathering features a reading from her children’s book, “You Are Loved”, followed by a children’s meditation and interactive mindfulness activities

Later on, locals and visitors alike are invited to join Liv for a community mindfulness session, including an insightful discussion on the power of community connection.

The final weekend of the Month of Love is perhaps the hottest of them all – starting with a High Tea that’s been decked out in sequins, feathers and a slash of hot-pink lippy on Friday the 23rd of February.

The Sheraton’s first-ever Drag Queen High Tea features guest hostess and dazzling diva Donna Perignonn, along with free-flow sparkling wine and a divine buffet of gourmet bites.

On Saturday the 24th of February, gourmands will delight as renowned Melbourne chefs and restaurateurs Jerry Mai and Sarah Tiong takeover Harrisons Restaurant for an inspired evening of seriously good food.

The Month of Love ends on a high note with one last event under the setting sun on Sunday the 25th of February. Sheraton Sunset Sessions: Hot & Spicy Edition will set the resort’s monthly poolside party ablaze with unforgettable guest appearances by DJ diva and premier party hostess, Jimi the Kween.

Curating an incredible atmosphere alongside fire dancers, sea breezes and renowned DJ Enn, this celebration is the perfect way to conclude a love-filled month in paradise.
