As the real estate market in the Douglas Shire gears up for its peak season from March to September, the Easter holidays are set to ignite this surge with a sugar rush of open homes, prominently showcased by Property Shop Port Douglas.

In an effort to kick-start the season with flair, the agency is leading the charge with an ‘Easter Extravaganza’ of Open Homes scheduled for Saturday, March 30.

This showcase will spotlight a diverse range of properties, spanning from under $200,000 to over $2,000,000, offering great investment opportunities and lavish family homes alike.

Buyers (past, present and future) are invited to join in, with chocolates being handed out at each open home, transforming the event into an Easter Egg hunt, where visiting more properties means gathering more chocolates.

Matthew Essex, Estate Agent at Property Shop Port Douglas, shared the motivation behind the initiative.

“Easter marks the beginning of our peak selling period; some sellers have been waiting through the quieter months and are eager to get underway, while others recognise the opportunity and strive to take advantage of the increased number of buyers,” he said.

“This brings lots of new properties to the market, which, in turn, attracts more buyers - and what better to celebrate this turn in the market than with chocolate.”

Whether you’re actively seeking to buy or just ‘window shopping’, everyone is welcome to join the Easter Extravaganza.

“Open homes pose a fantastic opportunity for everyone,” Matthew said. “For the current, discerning buyer, inspecting is a must, and open homes afford them a little extra freedom.

“For invested neighbours, it’s important to stay up-to-date with property prices, and it's only through inspecting that one can get a true feel for value.

“And, seldom taken advantage of, but they benefit future first-time buyers too. The real estate market plays an important part in life, therefore, the sooner a buyer starts, the more prepared they will be.

“Open homes offer the perfect opportunity to start gaining an understanding for what one can get for their money, and offer a great opportunity to quiz the listing agent too; to get a better understanding of what to buy, when to do it, and how to go about it.”
