GIVING BACK: Amy Davidson typifies Douglas Shire spirit, generously cuts hair of Daintree Coast residents
KINDNESS

An emerging Douglas Shire hairdresser with strong links to the Daintree Coast community has epitomised the giving nature of Douglas Shire residents following a recent act of kindness.
Having seen the devastation Jasper and the history making rain event caused along the Daintree Coast last December, including the Alexandra Bay township where she grew up, Amy Davidson wanted to put smiles back on the faces of locals.
So, what better way to do that then to use her burgeoning scissor skills to do a flurry of haircuts for those in need of a trim and tidy up following the double disasters.
“Amy, at only 20 years old reached out to express her interest in volunteering her incredible skills and give back to a community she has strong ties to,” well known local resident Brooke Nikora told Newsport.
“17 extremely grateful locals took up the offer hosted at the Alexandra Bay Sporting & Social Club over the long weekend.
“On behalf of the Daintree Coast Community I want to thank Amy for her kind gesture for our community that has been through a lot recently.
“It was so heartwarming to see the smile it put on so many faces this weekend.”
Professionally Amy’s career continues to go from strength to strength.
After finishing her schooling in Mossman she started a hairdresser apprenticeship in 2019 under the team at DS Hair & Make-Up in Port Douglas - where Amy is now a qualified and reputable hairdresser within her industry.
The young star was recently accepted into the 2024 Wella Assistant Program - a highly competitive mentorship that recognises the best up and coming hair stylists.
Well done Amy, keep on kicking goals!
