The clearing of undergrowth to make way for a new Daintree River boat ramp, which was scheduled for this Wednesday, has been postponed.
The Lower Daintree Boat Ramp was set to be closed from 7am to 4pm on Wednesday, September 10, for the works, but will now remain open until further notice.
When rescheduled, Douglas Shire Council workers will be doing the job on behalf of the State Government Transport and Main Roads Department (TMR).

A letter to affected parties such as fishing tour operators was recently sent out notifying them of the works and ramp closure.
A future second boat ramp is set to be built upstream of the existing floating walkway, the letter reads.
“TMR has recently completed a cultural heritage assessment of the site and requires the vegetation to be cleared before survey work can begin,” the letter reads.
“Further details about the new boat ramp will be released… at a later stage.”
The vegetation clearing will be done by an arborist team using an excavator, chainsaws, and a chipper, with noise expected.
The works will take place 7m from the outer edge of the floating walkway support lane on the upstream side and 2m from the edge of the shoulder on the downstream side.
The council stated this week “notice will be given when the works are rescheduled”.
