The first equipment has arrived for the $4.75m Port Douglas Splash Park, which is expected to be open in time for the September school holidays.

The reef-themed splash equipment includes reproductions of manta rays, crabs and jellyfish.

Douglas Shire Council has received State Government grants of more than $2.5m for the park, and has paid about $2.2m.

Townsville-based JMac Constructions has been building the park at Jalunbu Park, Garrick Street, behind the Surfy on Four Mile Beach.
