Port Douglas enjoyed an easy 127-point win against Cairns Lions on the same weekend the club celebrated a 200-game milestone for vice captain Josh Lea.

The Crocs were never troubled, racing out to a 30-point lead at quarter time at home in Port Douglas on Saturday, with the Lions not even troubling the scoreboard in the first half.

The final score was 21.15 (141) to 2.2 (14), with best players Thomas Cantwell, Zayne Moore, Kye Chapple, Ben Mcphee, Brett Mckeown and Murphy Short.

Chapple kicked 11 goals to keep his season tally ticking over past the 60 mark.

The Crocs women went down to the Lions by 40 points, 2.3 (15) to 8.7 (55).

The Crocs are home against South Cairns Cutters this Saturday, with the senior men on at 2pm and the women at 4.45pm.

Rugby union

The Port Douglas Reef Raiders’ season is over after the side got trounced by top team JCU Mariners 7-71 in the final minor round game.

Guillaume Marchis was the try scorer.

The Mossman Sharks had the bye last weekend, but play Mareeba Gladiators at home at Coronation Park in Mossman this Sunday from 3pm.

The Sharks are sitting in fourth, but have three teams breathing down their necks, so cannot afford to drop this one at home against the eighth-placed Gladiators.
