Slope stabilisation works have started on the Mossman-Mount Molloy Road.

The landslip site being repaired is about 1.5km from the Mossman-Mount Molloy Road Lookout towards Mossman, according to the State Government Transport and Main Roads Department (TMR).

“Works may not be visible from the road, as much of the required reconstruction is happening on the downslope, below the road,” a TMR statement reads.

“With vegetation and clearing works completed, soil nails have been drilled and shotcreting works will follow.”

Priority works at the site started in late May, with the road under single-lane-traffic control on the way up to the lookouts.

There are no road closures or night closures yet scheduled there, but TMR will provide advance notice if they are needed.

Works will also include installation of retaining walls.

“The section under single lane traffic control will be the first priority with other sites to be completed later in the reconstruction program,” has previously TMR stated.
