Arrest after Mareeba man assaulted at home

A 25-year-old Mareeba man has been arrested following an assault last week.

On the evening of Wednesday, June 4, a man visited a Mareeba home and allegedly assaulted two other men, aged 48 and 34, with a stick.

Another man reportedly emerged from behind some trees and also became involved in the fight.

Police said the 48-year-old ran back into the house and the 25-year-old chased after him and tried to get in.

By the time police arrived, all the men had fled, but a 25-year-old Mareeba man was charged  the next day (Thursday, June 5) with assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault and entering a dwelling with intent.

He is due to appear at the Mareeba Magistrates Court on Monday, June 16.

Police are continuing to search for any other men who may have been involved.
