A fun new addition is set to brighten up this Friday’s Light Up the Park event in Mossman.

The "Colour Us One!" fun run will be a free activity, aiming to promote local unity and community spirit as part of regional reconciliation efforts.

Organised by local business Behaviour Boost with support from a State Government grant, the event is a collaboration with the Mossman Youth Centre and other community groups.

Event organiser Nadia Sinkovich hopes the fun run will become a cherished annual tradition.

“We’re trying to bring a youth vibe into things,” Ms Sinkovich says.

“It’s fun for all ages, of course, but we really see this event as a way for our youth to come together and strengthen relationships in the community.”

Timed to coincide with the last day of the school term, the run promises a colourful and energetic start to the school holidays.

“(It’s) a great way to celebrate the beginning of the break,” Ms Sinkovich says.

The Colour Us One! fun run is on at 4.30pm, Friday, June 27, George Davis Park, Mossman.

Participants are encouraged to arrive early to register, with the first 100 participants winning a free t-shirt, while there will also be giveaways of sunglasses and headbands.
