Uber Eats is expanding to about 100 more regional centres across Australia this year.

Uber Eats has started up in Port Douglas this week as part of a major push into regional areas across the country.

The food-delivery service is kicking off in 14 more Queensland towns, with Mareeba also one of those.

“Throughout 2025, Uber Eats is more than doubling its footprint and bringing its services to over 100 towns and communities across Australia for the first time,” a company release states.

“The expansion into Port Douglas is part of Uber Eats’ broader commitment to regional growth this year.”

Some of the local venues now using Uber Eats include Odori Sushi House, Nectar Port Douglas acai bar, Oaks Resort and Viet Pho restaurant.

According to the company, demand for online ordering is growing across the country, including from tourists visiting hotspots such as the Great Barrier Reef.

“Online food delivery allows restaurants to flexibly scale up to cater to the surge in visitors during peak season,” the company states.

Uber Eats' modelling shows $45m will be generated in new restaurant revenue from the expansion move, adding $19m to regional economies and creating more than 2500 new delivery jobs across Australia.
