Labor candidate Matt Smith was all smiles after his "light-hearted" win.

Agro the crocodile has predicted Labor candidate Matt Smith to become the new Leichhardt federal MP at tomorrow’s Federal Election in the traditional croc poll event.

Smith ventured to Rainforestation Wildlife Sanctuary at Kuranda for the “light-hearted” event this morning.

“Seems like Agro the crocodile has been paying attention to Labor’s plan for Medicare, cheaper medicines, 20 per cent reduction in student debts and tax cuts for every taxpayer,” Smith wrote on his social media page following the event - where two pieces of food were dangled above the crocodile labelled “Matt Smith”, and his main opponent, LNP candidate Jeremy Neal, with the croc only able to grab one of the meaty snacks.

“Bit of light heartedness as Agro chose me to take the win tomorrow,” Smith wrote.

“We’ll see what the real voters decide tomorrow.”

One of the biggest crocodiles in captivity, Agro is more than 4.5m long and weighs more than 600kg.
