A shot at a $50,000 hole-in-one is just the beginning of what’s on offer at the brand-new Port Douglas Carnivale Classic, a premier golfing event taking place on Sunday, 25 May as part of the 2025 Carnivale festivities.

As an exciting new addition to Savannah Sounds Port Douglas (a three-day music festival held at Rex Smeal Park) this unique event blends competitive golf, live music, and premium experiences at the beautiful Mirage Country Club.

Tickets to the golf event will include a 1 day pass to Savannah Sounds for Sunday 25 May - perfect for post-golf celebrations.

The golf kicks off bright and early Sunday morning with an Individual Stableford competition, starting at 8.30am with a shotgun start.

Expect feature hole activations, live scoring, and on-course entertainment to keep the vibe high throughout the day.

Event Director Liam Carey from WHYNOT Presents says the Carnivale Classic is more than just a tournament.

“It’s the ultimate fusion of Golf, Live music, and tropical luxury - set against the stunning backdrop of Port Douglas and the Daintree Rainforest,” he said.

“With golf’s popularity booming, we saw a unique opportunity to create a unique amateur event that’s fun, immersive, with entertainment that’s truly world-class.

“Partnering with Savannah Sounds has helped us elevate the whole experience.”

The Carnivale Classic brings fresh energy to the Port Douglas Carnivale, turning the spotlight on the region’s incredible golf courses while offering visitors a dynamic new way to enjoy the festivities.

What to expect

From the moment you arrive, it’s a party. A resident DJ will set the tone before the shotgun start, and feature holes like the X-Golf Cairns Party Hole will keep the fun going with custom hype songs, drinks, snacks, and challenges like the crowd-favourite Croc-Trap.

While the headline $50,000 hole-in-one prize (sponsored by J and R Refrigeration and Electrical) is the major drawcard, there’s over $5,000 in additional prizes and experiences to be won throughout the day.

Highlights include a $3,000+ champion prize - featuring a post-golf helicopter flight with Nautilus Aviation, VIP Savannah Sounds upgrades, TaylorMade Golf Bag, and a return entry in 2026 for 2, with luxury accommodation at Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas.

Each golf & entertainment package includes:

  • Entry into the 18-hole Stableford competition
  • A Punters Golf shirt
  • A Savannah Sounds Festival Pass for Sunday 25 May
  • A welcome pack filled with snacks, beverages, and exclusive local tourism offers
