Last call for community to access Veterans grants
Honouring Our Veterans
Applications for the State Government’s $6 million Honouring our Veterans program close tomorrow, Friday, November 14, with ex-service organisations, schools and community groups encouraged to apply for the new grants.
The grants are aimed to ensure the service and stories of veterans and their families are preserved and recognised across Queensland with funding available for upgrades to memorials and community events.
Grants can be used for building improvements, creating or refurbishing war memorials, avenues of honour, memorial gardens, and buying equipment, as well as events, activities, and initiatives which honour our veterans.
Queensland is home to the largest population of veterans in Australia with more than 163,000 current serving and former Australian Defence Force personnel living here.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start for Queensland veterans, with $26.4 million in the 2025-26 Budget to honour and commemorate the contribution of veterans and to support veterans and their families.
The government is also developing the State’s first Queensland Veterans and Veterans’ Families Strategy to identify emerging needs and boost support, with public consultation concluding this week.
Premier and Minister for Veterans David Crisafulli said the Government was delivering the fresh start Queenslanders voted for, exactly as promised.
“We are delivering a plan for Queensland’s future, and more support to ensure our brave veterans and their families are recognised and remembered,” Premier Crisafulli said during Remembrance Day events on Tuesday.
“We are backing veterans and their families with practical support like events, as well as improved memorials, to ensure our heroes are honoured into the future in communities across Queensland.
“While we are delivering a plan for veterans, there is much more to be done to deliver for Queensland’s future, and we remain committed to delivering the fresh start we promised.”
