Newsport Print makes a splash
Newsport Daily Print

It was a splash-worthy Splash Park launch at the weekend so the newest Port Douglas front attraction has been splashed on the front page of this week’s FREE Newsport Daily Print edition.
Newsport was there to capture the fun and excitement amongst the youngsters as the Splash Park opened and also has shared with a stack of pictures the biggest event of the year for the the youth at the other end of their schooling journey, the Mossman State School Year 12 Formal.
We have photo galleries of both events up on the Newsport website along with what will be a special keepsake for fun in the print edition now out on the streets.
Also grabbing a slice of the news is a record breaking marketing blitz pushing the region to the top of the list for international tourists. The lure of the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree and the Douglas lifestyle is one for everyone from families to the famous, the pending arrival of superyacht Lumir also highlighted in the latest edition.
It’s not all good news, though, with transport troubles impacting Cape Tribulation, water use warnings for regions across Far North Queensland and a measles outbreak prompting alerts from health officials.
We take a close look at the plans in place for when disaster strikes, featuring the efforts and preparation of the Douglas Shires Disaster Management Unit and feature the launch of a new financial advice platform in the region.
You Said It has a stack of your comments on the big stories of recent weeks and a lighter take on the news in From The Holster.
There was no flag for the Port Douglas Crocs but some individual success stories, while the Douglas Shire Dragons roared to be crowned Far North Community Division 2 soccer champions with a 2-0 win over Stratford Dolphins in the grand final.
Rounding out the sports news is Gran Fondo and Run Port Douglas results, some cricket scores and 8-ball news.
