More robust structures would probably foil most of the growing number of vandals in the area and require less maintenance.

Bob Luke

Whinge whinge bloody whinge, have you people got nothing else to do?

Graeme Mcalpine

This council needs to step up, period.

Lisa Lopez

Maiintain reasonably but replace with iron bars. Make it Indigenous and local art, not straight bars. A once-off community/council solution project.

Roger Boyd

It's been happening for some time. People don't seem to care.

Jancy-Leigh Marrinon

I bet the people bagging out DSC over this are the same people slamming council for rates increases. Where do you think the $$$ come from to maintain this type of infrastructure? How about some support for all the amazing things our council achieve.

Neil Jabs

Call it for what it is. Wasted money on splash park at $4.75m. Sorry but I cannot justify this amount of money spent, can you? Previous contract deals under question? Lack of community involvement and consultation over plans ideas for the betterment of the shire for all ratepayers. As for amazing things the council has done? Maybe, but at what expense to the constituents?

Sarah Williams

Unfortunately, it looks like someone has kicked many out over the past week or so. It’s sad that people can be this bored.

Darryn Slade

Seems like the only time things get maintained now is when people complain.

The key, somewhat garbled, statement here is that it’s primarily a disease that attacks people already compromised. It sounds like she inhaled the bacterium that causes this infection in a similar way to how legionnaires disease is contracted. Thank goodness she is okay now.

Sandra Zajaz

My friend in Julatten also suffered the same disease late last year. Beware.

Megan Shannon

Such a strong and inspirational woman.

Jenny Kirk

OMG Brooke. Best wishes for a full recovery. Prayers sista.

Lynda Hart Miller

What a start to your 2026! Sooooo glad to hear you are coming good Brooke!

Which council does waste management better?

We don’t get much for free.

Dan Hammersley

Cause it's rubbish and full of weeds and other undesirable plant seeds and matter.

Kynee Christensen

When is Port/ Mossman free weekend?

Michelle Simone

We get 6 free plants per year, but that's if you can get to the nursery on a Wednesday. If not then forget it. There is also not as much nice choice as there used to be so unless you want the same stuff year in/year out then it's not for you. I wish we could have had that lagoon put at Port Douglas. Also, a free roadside larger-item collection once or twice a year would be super helpful. I had to take a fridge freezer the other week and got charged to leave it at the dump.
