One lucky Port Douglas local is feeling “ecstatic” today as he flies to Brisbane with one goal in mind - tossing the coin for tonight’s Brisbane Lions versus Geelong Cats AFL match.

As a Lions sponsor, Ray White agent Mark Flinn was selected ahead of company employees from across the state for the honour of tossing the coin in last year’s Grand Final rematch game, with 24 years in the business and a love of football helping him across the line.

“I was pretty stoked,” Mr Flinn said before he flew out with his family this morning.

“It was probably a bucket-list thing.

“I was ecstatic, I rang all my mates, told my football friends, so, yeah, it was exciting.

“I guess I’m looking at it like, I get to walk out on the hallowed turf, don’t I?”

Mr Flinn will get to say hello to the players in the race before he goes out.

“It’s the closest I’ll ever get to playing AFL,” he jokes.

Tune in to Channel 7 from 7pm tonight to see a proud Port Douglas local flying the flag - and, by the way, we are hoping he doesn’t do a hammy tonight like one coin tosser did last year during the St Kilda versus Bulldogs game.
