UPDATED 9.01AM

Newsport understands the rescue helicopter has left the accident site and traffic is now moving along the Captain Cook Highway.

The cause of the accident at this early stage is yet to be determined.

EARLIER: The rescue helicopter has been called to assist a person with serious injuries following a single vehicle rollover on the Captain Cook Highway near Killaloe this morning.

Fire and Paramedic units were called to the scene near Port Douglas at 6.48am.

A QAS spokesperson told Newsport moments ago a second person involved in the accident is being treated for minor injuries.

Motorists in the area are currently facing heavy delays.
