A Newsport reader noticed a slight problem with a local fish identification sign. Picture: Submitted

A Newsport reader was taking their morning stroll just days ago in Port Douglas when they stumbled across a Douglas Shire fish identification sign.

Upon a closer look the bemused local did a 'double take' when they noticed something about the sign just wasn’t quite right.

Can you pick it?

“I’m no expert fisherman but that is not a whiting in the image,” the morning walker jokingly remarked to us.

The reader’s picture does indeed reveal the sign mistakingly features another fish as a whiting - or has the whiting since assumed a new fishy identity?

Thank you!
