Despite wet and muddy conditions, Mossman Junior Rugby League were thrilled to host NQ Cowboys legends Ben Hampton and Ray Thompson for a skills and drills clinic just days ago in Mossman.

Hundreds of players from under-6s to under-15s were put through their paces by the Cowboys who were assisted by NRL development staff and Northern Pride representatives.

"The impact of seeing these guys in the flesh and how that inspires the next generations of players can't be underestimated," Mossman vice-president Harry Cobb told Newsport.

"We received a number of new player registrations on the day and hope to continue to build on that."

The NRL squad will return later this month with representatives from the Brisbane Broncos.

Anyone interested in having a go at junior rugby league can attend a training session at 5pm on Thursday afternoons at Mossman Showgrounds.
