Mossman Sharks lost their semi-final to Ivanhoe Knights on the weekend after a second-half fadeout in FNQ Rugby League.

Leading 14-12 at half time following two first-half tries, the fourth-placed Sharks could not go with the fifth-placed Ivanhoes after the break, going down 36-14 at Tully Showgrounds.

Soccer

The Douglas United Dragons have beaten Leichhardt 11-0 away from home in an absolute whitewash.

Javier Puertos opened the scoring in the sixth minute, with the Dragons putting away five goals in the first half and six in the second.

Rafael Vihl and Ignacio Ipinazar both scored four-goal hauls in the drubbing, while Georges Laulhe finished with a two-goal brace.

This Friday Douglas United is back at home at Cassowary Park against Southside Comets from 7pm.

Lawn bowls

The $10,000 80th Year Anniversary Open Fours was played on Saturday, August 16, and Sunday, August 17. 

There were 64 bowlers on the green each day with three rounds of play Saturday and two rounds on Sunday. 

Two teams finished up with five wins and two teams had four wins. 

In fourth place was the Eddie Rick team of Dareyle Hester, Denise Quinn, Juddie Rick & Eddie Rick with four wins & 49 margin. 

In the money was Mick de Vries team of  Mick de Vries, Col Rowbotham, Kevin Deegan & Darren Turner in third place with four wins & 54 margin, runner up was birthday boy, Rhys Gillmans team of Wayne Petrohilos, Chad Hughes, Mitch Styles & Rhys Gillman with five wins & 55 margin, with the winning team of local lads and Emma being Mick Frese, Peter Busch, Emma Rowbotham & Malachy McTaggart with five wins & 67 margin.

The placings were very tight until the last round had finished.
