A prestige car rally is making its way into our Shire this weekend as part of a coastal drive from Mission Beach to Port Douglas.

Full Throttle Tropics, staged by motoring event organiser Thunderbolt Run, takes luxury and classic car owners on a three day, two night journey along our coast.

The event is taking place from tomorrow (Friday, June 6) to Sunday, so keep an eye out for a range of high-end cars, including Ferraris, McLarens and Aston Martins, being led by the Thunderbolt Run Porsche 911 pace car.

Across 2022, 2023 and 2025, Thunderbolt Run has raised money for charity, with mental-health-support group Beyond Blue being supported by this event.

“Beyond the thrill of the drive, the Thunderbolt Run is committed to making a difference,” the team states.

Participants in Full Throttle Tropics also stay at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort and spend a day out on the Great Barrier Reef on the Silversonic dive boat.

The Thunderbolt Run is a series of prestige rally events founded by businessman Vas Comblas.

The events are a way for owners of luxury and classic cars to network, and share their passion for high-end cars all while raising money for charity.

Thunderbolt Runs take place across Australia, including in South East Queensland and Tasmania.
