The Port Douglas boat ramp upgrade is expected to be completed this week - the first week of  school holidays.

The upgrade has improved safety, access and usability for local boaties ahead of schedule, Cook MP David Kempton said.

The resurfacing project, delivered by contractor Australian Marine and Civil, is expected to reopen this week.

“This is an important piece of work for the local community,” Mr Kempton said.
“The boat ramp is central for local industry, and right in the middle of one of the state’s tourism icons, Port Douglas.”
To finalise the project, asphalt works will be completed on the approach to the ramp.

To minimise disruption to boat ramp users, the contractor will carry out these works overnight on Thursday, July 3, weather permitting.

As a result, the boat ramp will be closed overnight from 6pm on Thursday and will reopen at 5am on Friday, July 4.

This upgrade is part of the State Government’s ongoing investment in marine services to support safe, accessible, and well-maintained boating spaces across Queensland.
