A car has rolled over at the roundabout on Captain Cook Highway at Craiglie, with the accident described as “serious” on online traffic-report sites.

An ambulance, a fire truck and two police cars attended the site on the main turn-off into Port Douglas at Port Douglas Road, with a dark-coloured four-wheel drive vehicle in a ditch on the side of the road near the IGA shopping centre.

Traffic reports indicate the crash, described as “serious”, happened at about 1.25pm.

Several young people were at the scene, but it was unclear whether there were injuries.

The roads remain open to traffic.
