At first glance, a massage might seem like a simple luxury, but at Cora Remedial Massage & Bodywork in Cooya Beach, Cora offers something more: targeted, therapeutic care rooted in clinical training and a deep understanding of the body.

“Remedial massage is very different from relaxation massage,” Cora explained.

“We complete a year-long diploma covering anatomy, muscle function, injury recovery, and how the body responds to trauma.

“We learn how to support healing, which techniques to use for different conditions, and just as importantly, what not to do.”

Cora works with a diverse range of clients - from tradies, and farmers to office workers, athletes, tree loppers, and even the occasional bull rider.

Their issues vary just as much, including sore backs, joint replacements, tennis or golfer’s elbow, chronic pain, or simply waking up feeling sore.

“Pretty much anyone with a broken everything,” she laughed.

She also treats complex conditions like frozen shoulders, disc herniations, and joint replacements.

With a broad understanding of how underlying health issues like diabetes can contribute to pain or injury, Cora helps clients better understand their condition and how it can be treated and managed.

Cora’s journey began at 23 with sports massage training, which eventually led to years working in luxury day spas across Queensland.

But it was one moment that changed everything, when a client arrived at a spa in visible pain, and Cora realised she wanted to do more than offer temporary relief. She wanted to truly help.

That realisation led her to open her own studio, and two years on, Cora RMB has become a trusted name across the Douglas Shire.

“I’m truly passionate about what I do,” she said. “Helping someone feel better, move better, live better, and understand how they can help themselves, that’s what it’s all about.”

Tailored Treatments

No two sessions are alike. Every client undergoes a comprehensive assessment, including a medical history and postural check, to ensure Cora fully understands the root cause of their pain or tension.

“It’s not just about treating symptoms,” she said. “It’s about asking why they’re happening in the first place.”

Treatments are often done in collaboration with physiotherapists or chiropractors for best results.

With additional skills in dry cupping, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and condition-specific techniques, her studio has become a sanctuary for people of all backgrounds, sizes, and abilities.

“I’m also LGBTQI+ friendly,” she added. “Mutual respect is the only condition for entry.”

Despite the clinical edge to her work, Cora still stays true to her spa roots.

Her treatments often include thoughtful touches - hot towels, custom essential oil blends, and optional upgrades like back scrubs, facial massage, or a nourishing hair mask.

She also offers a basic facial using her own handmade products, designed to release tension in the jaw and temples, especially helpful for those experiencing TMJ, headaches, or general facial tightness.

“You can take the girl out of the spa, but not the spa out of the girl,” she laughed. “Those little touches make all the difference. I aim to offer a truly holistic experience.”

Cora is registered with RAD Care and Trilogy Care, allowing her to invoice clients directly through their home care packages. She also provides health fund rebates.
