Port Douglas is trading its tropical stubbies for German-style brews as Oaks Port Douglas Resort hosts an authentic Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday, 25 October.

The festivities at Oak & Vine run from 5pm to 8.30pm, inviting everyone to enjoy an evening of German culture, food, fun, and, of course, beer - all with free entry.

Guests can tuck into traditional German fare, including bratwurst, pretzels, schnitzels, and a specially curated food platter, perfectly paired with authentic German-style brews.

Adding to the lively atmosphere, the Edelweiss Dance Group, a Cairns-based community troupe, will perform energetic Bavarian and Austrian folk dances, including the iconic Schuhplattler.

Since 1989, the group has been a highlight of cultural festivals across Far North Queensland, renowned for their high-energy routines, storytelling, and audience engagement.

Paul Parrant, General Manager at Oaks Port Douglas Resort, said the event was designed to bring fun and flavour to the region.

“Oktoberfest is the perfect excuse to come together for good food, cold beer, live music, and plenty of laughs in our tropical backyard,” Paul said.

“German traditions really know how to get a crowd smiling. It’s all about community, celebration, and great company, everything that makes for a fantastic Port Douglas weekend.”
