Fifty years of Probus proves retirement is an adventure in Douglas
SENIORS WRAP
If you thought retirement meant slowing down, the Probus Club of Port Douglas and District is here to politely, and energetically, prove you wrong.
Recently, the organisation celebrated a significant milestone, the 50th anniversary of Probus in Australia.
At its heart, Probus is a community organisation designed specifically for retired and semi-retired professionals who still have a thirst for knowledge and social engagement.
Probus focuses on the “three Fs”: Fun, Fellowship, and Friendship.
To mark this golden jubilee, local members gathered at the Mossman Bowls Club for a “Mini Travel Expo,” an event that highlighted the spirit of curiosity and connection that defines the club.
Members enjoyed three separate screenings of personal travel adventures, ranging from the historic wonders of China to the bustling streets of Istanbul.
Of course, the club also finds plenty of magic right here in Far North Queensland.
This month, the group is swapping international passports for a closer look at their own "backyard" with a tour of the Great Barrier Reef Legacy.
The momentum continues into late May and June with a planned expedition to the Herberton Historic Village, where members will step back in time to explore pioneer life.
As the club looks toward a busy calendar for the remainder of the year, the invitation remains open to any local seniors looking to stay connected and active.
If you are ready to start your next chapter with a group that values your experience and shares your interests, reach out to President Susan Stafford at [email protected] for membership enquiries.
