A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the chest following an argument at a holiday park on the Captain Cook Highway in Ellis Beach on Saturday night.

Police said the argument broke out between two men who know each other at about 10.45pm, and a 45-year-old Townsville man then allegedly stabbed a 48-year-old Speewah man before fleeing the scene.

The Speewah man remains in a stable condition with a single wound to the chest.

The Queensland Ambulance Service called the wound “potentially life-threatening”.

The Townsville man was charged with an act intending to cause grievous bodily harm and is appearing in Cairns Magistrates Court today.
