She also has a clear goal for the championships. “The one goal I have… is to just get one medal at states.”
Fourteen-year-old Alvie, whose favourite events include flags and board events, said he is proud to represent his club and region.
“I feel proud to represent Port Douglas and North QLD,” Alvie said.
He is also looking forward to the conditions on the Sunshine Coast.“To try out the big surf and have fun.”
He praised the club community, describing it as “Our kind, sharing community that always helps each other.”

“To try and get first, second, third, fourth or fifth in the swim.”
Emma, 11, is also proud to represent her club and region.
“I am really excited to represent Far North Queensland and my local club, Port Douglas,” she said.
While she is a little nervous, she is focused on her goals. “I would love to make it to the finals in swimming.”
She also acknowledged the support she receives from the club. “Everyone is so kind and caring and always helping us.”
Fellow teammates Lani (14) and Elise (12) have also shown strong dedication throughout the season, earning their selection through consistent training and commitment.
Both athletes will proudly represent Port Douglas and North Queensland alongside their teammates.
