Shire-wide cheers to the local blokes
INTERNATIONAL MEN’S DAY
We all know about International Women’s Day, but what about International Men’s Day? That question inspired the team at the Port Douglas Neighbourhood Centre to celebrate the positive male role models in our community with a special day of recognition.
In partnership with Club Mossman, the Neighbourhood Centre will host its first-ever International Men’s Day celebration on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
The event aims to help bring the community together in recognition of men’s health, wellbeing, and the important roles men play in families and society.
The day will feature barefoot bowls, guest speakers, live entertainment, and plenty of opportunities to connect with friends, family, and local services.
Neighbourhood Centre Coordinator Belinda Fischer said it’s exciting for the community to be part of a global movement.
“International Men’s Day is celebrated in over 80 countries worldwide, and Mossman is now part of that movement, celebrating for the first time in 2025,” Belinda said.
“The day aims to promote positive male role models, improve gender relations, and raise awareness around men’s health and wellbeing.”
Belinda said the event is open to everyone.
“Men, women, families, and community groups are all encouraged to come along and take part,” she said.
The event has been made possible with support from a Douglas Shire Council grant.
For those who do not have access to transport, a 12-seater bus will be available for those travelling from Port Douglas to Mossman and back.
